Rules & Guides

This campaign is designed to be played as close to standard Warhammer 40,000 rules as possible. Games should follow the current matched play ruleset, ensuring a consistent and fair experience for all players. A small number of adjustments are in place to support progression, balance, and narrative play.

Campaign Structure

The campaign is divided into three stages. The Opening Stage lasts one month and is played at 1000 points. The Mid Stage also lasts one month and is played at 1000 points. The Final Stage lasts one month and is played at 1500 points. Each stage represents the escalating conflict on Ardium as more forces are drawn to the world and the war deepens.

Players are expected to play a minimum of 1 game per month. This minimum game must be played against a different faction so that it contributes to the wider story of the campaign.

Additional & Modified Rules

While this campaign follows standard Warhammer 40,000 rules as closely as possible, a small number of adjustments are in place to support progression, balance, and narrative play.

Requisition Points

Requisition Points are gained as normal through gameplay, with the following adjustments:

  • Players gain 1 RP after each battle that grants progression
  • A maximum of 3 RP can be gained per month through battles
  • At the start of Month 3, all players gain 1 additional RP
  • Increase Supply Limit costs 250 points instead of 200

This ensures that army growth remains paced and meaningful throughout the campaign, while also helping players expand into the final stage.

Battle Participation & Progression

Players may play multiple games during each month. Rewards are determined based on the following rules:

  • The first 3 games per month that are played grant progression rewards (XP, RP, etc.)
  • The first 3 games per month that are played against a different faction grant campaign story rewards
  • Any additional games may still be played freely, but do not grant progression rewards for that player
  • Opponents may still gain progression if eligible

The first eligible games played each month are always the ones that count toward rewards.

Players are expected to play a minimum of 1 game per month, and this minimum game must be a story progression game played against a different faction.

Example

Players A and B are Imperium. Players C, D, and E belong to other factions.

Player A plays 5 games in Month 1:

  • A vs B → Grants progression rewards only
  • A vs C → Grants progression rewards and story rewards
  • A vs D → Grants progression rewards and story rewards
  • A vs C → Grants story rewards only
  • A vs E → Grants no rewards (other than fun)

Their opponents’ rewards depend on their own played games. The first eligible games are always the ones that count for rewards.

Summary

  • Month 1: 1000 points
  • Month 2: 1000 points
  • Month 3: 1500 points
  • Minimum 1 game per month, and it must be cross-faction
  • First 3 games each month grant progression rewards
  • First 3 cross-faction games each month grant story rewards
  • 1 RP per progression battle
  • Maximum 3 RP per month from battles
  • +1 bonus RP at the start of Month 3
  • Increase Supply Limit costs 250 points

Administratum & New Recruit

Please use Administratum to manage your Crusade force and New Recruit to build and upload your army lists. Together, these tools make it much easier to track progression, manage rosters, and keep army lists clear throughout the campaign.

Administratum

Administratum is the primary tool used in this campaign to track your Crusade force. It is a web-based application and is not available in the Google Play Store or other app stores. It can be accessed through your browser at:

administratum.goonhammer.com

In Administratum, players should create and maintain their Crusade roster, including unit experience, battle honours, battle scars, requisitions, and supply limit changes. Players are encouraged to update their roster as soon as possible after each game.

On mobile devices, Administratum can be added to your home screen through your browser, allowing it to behave much like a normal app.

New Recruit

New Recruit is recommended for adding units to Administratum. Players can use it to create and set up new units and then add them to Administratum, from which they are further managed.

www.newrecruit.eu

Once a list has been created in New Recruit, players should use it as the basis for their force in Administratum. Administratum does not automatically sync with New Recruit, so players are responsible for making sure their roster and army list remain aligned.

Good Practice

  • Keep your Administratum roster updated after each game (at least 48 hours before a planned match)
  • Use New Recruit or the official Warhammer 40,000 app (codex required) to add units to Administratum
  • Resolve and record upgrades, scars, and honours as soon as possible after each game
  • Where possible, make progression rolls in the presence of your opponent
  • Bring a printed battlesheet with selected units from Administratum to each match. The checkboxes must be used to clearly define which units from your Crusade force are taking part in the battle
  • You can enable “Show Crusade Tracker” in the settings to help track events during the game
  • Track progress on the battlesheet as the game goes on

Administratum tracks your Crusade force. New Recruit or the Warhammer 40,000 app helps you build your list. Used together, they provide a simple and reliable way to manage your army throughout the campaign.

Keeping rosters visible and up to date ensures transparency for all players, and helps games run more smoothly by reducing the need for on-the-spot list building and explanations.
